Job Description

Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has given an employment notification for conducting the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) 2024. This test is mandatory for candidates seeking teaching positions in government and private schools in Jharkhand.

About Jharkhand TET 2024

The Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) is conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) for candidates who wish to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in schools across Jharkhand. Qualifying in this test is essential as per the provisions of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.

Papers in Jharkhand TET 2024

  1. Paper-I: For candidates who intend to be teachers for classes I to V
  2. Paper-II: For candidates who intend to be teachers for classes VI to VIII

Candidates can apply for either Paper-I or Paper-II or both, depending on their eligibility and preference.

Exam Pattern

Paper-I (Primary Level):

  • Child Development and Pedagogy - 30 questions - 30 marks
  • Language I (Hindi/Santhali/Bengali/Urdu/Oriya/Ho) - 30 questions - 30 marks
  • Language II (English) - 30 questions - 30 marks
  • Mathematics - 30 questions - 30 marks
  • Environmental Studies - 30 questions - 30 marks

Paper-II (Upper Primary Level):

  • Child Development and Pedagogy - 30 questions - 30 marks
  • Language I (Hindi/Santhali/Bengali/Urdu/Oriya/Ho) - 30 questions - 30 marks
  • Language II (English) - 30 questions - 30 marks
  • Subject Specialization (Mathematics & Science OR Social Studies) - 60 questions - 60 marks

The duration of each paper is 2.5 hours. All questions will be multiple-choice questions with no negative marking for wrong answers. The medium of the test will be in Hindi/English, except for language sections.

How to Apply

  2. Click on the link for "JTET 2024 Registration"
  3. Register with your basic details if you are a new user
  4. Log in with your credentials
  5. Fill out the application form with required details
  6. Upload scanned copies of photograph and signature in the specified format
  7. Pay the application fee online through credit card/debit card/net banking
  8. Submit the application and take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria

For Paper-I (Primary Teacher - Classes I to V):

Candidates should have one of the following qualifications:

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed)
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (in accordance with the NCTE Regulations, 2002)
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
  • Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed)
  • Candidates who are pursuing final year of any of these courses can also apply

For Paper-II (Upper Primary Teacher - Classes VI to VIII):

Candidates should have one of the following qualifications:

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or pursuing 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or pursuing 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE Regulations, 2002
  • Four-year integrated B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed with at least 50% marks
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed (Special Education)
  • Candidates who are pursuing final year of any of these courses can also apply

Additional Requirements:

  • For candidates applying for Mathematics & Science subject in Paper-II, graduation should be with at least 50% marks in Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry/Biology
  • For candidates applying for Social Studies subject in Paper-II, graduation should be with at least 50% marks in History/Geography/Political Science/Economics/Sociology/Psychology

Note: SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates will get a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum educational qualification.
