The Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh has officially announced the APTET (Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) July 2024. This test is mandatory for candidates seeking teaching positions in government and private schools in Andhra Pradesh.
About APTET
The Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET) is conducted by the School Education Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh. Qualifying in this test is essential for appointment as a teacher in state government schools, private aided schools, and private unaided schools.
Papers in APTET July 2024
- Paper-1A: For positions of Primary Teacher (classes I to V)
- Paper-1B: For positions of Primary Teacher (classes I to V) - Urdu Medium
- Paper-2A: For positions of Upper Primary Teacher (classes VI to VIII)
- Paper-2B: For positions of Upper Primary Teacher (classes VI to VIII) - Urdu Medium
Exam Pattern
The APTET examination consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with each paper having a total of 150 questions for 150 marks. The duration of each paper is 2 hours and 30 minutes.
The examination is conducted online in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria
For Paper-1 (Classes I to V):
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE Regulations, 2002
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
- Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
For Paper-2 (Classes VI to VIII):
- Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)
- Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE Regulations, 2002
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A./B.Sc. or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed.
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)
Note: For SC/ST/BC/PH candidates, the minimum qualifying marks shall be relaxed by 5%.
