Job Description

The Indian Air Force has announced recruitment for Agniveer (Musician) posts under the Agnipath Scheme. This offers a unique opportunity for talented musicians to join the Indian Air Force and be part of its prestigious bands.

About Agnipath Scheme

The Agnipath Scheme is a new recruitment procedure for the Armed Forces. Under this scheme, selected candidates called 'Agniveers' will serve for a period of 4 years. After completion of 4 years, up to 25% of Agniveers may be selected for regular cadre based on their performance and organizational requirements.

Selection Process

The selection process for Agniveer (Musician) consists of the following stages:

  1. Online Registration
  2. Phase I - Online Test: Written examination consisting of objective-type questions
  3. Phase II - Physical Fitness Test (PFT):
    • 1.6 km run to be completed within 6 minutes 30 seconds
    • 10 Push-ups
    • 10 Sit-ups
    • 20 Squats
  4. Phase III - Musical Ability & Performance Test: Assessment of musical skills and performance on the chosen instrument
  5. Phase IV - Medical Examination: Comprehensive medical examination as per IAF standards
  6. Phase V - Enrollment: Final selection and enrollment of qualified candidates

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:

Candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit:

Candidates born between July 1, 2003, and June 30, 2007, (both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have passed Class 10 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board/University.
  • Additionally, the candidate should have basic knowledge and practical skills in the musical instrument they are applying for.

Musical Abilities:

  • Proficiency in playing the chosen musical instrument
  • Knowledge of basic music theory
  • Ability to read and interpret musical notations
  • Understanding of scales, chords, and rhythm patterns
  • Group performance capability

Physical Standards:

  • Height: Minimum 152.5 cms
  • Weight: As per height and age as per IAF Medical Standards
  • Chest: Minimum 77 cms with expansion of 5 cms
  • Vision: 6/12 each eye, correctable to 6/6 each eye

Medical Standards:

Candidates must be medically fit as per Indian Air Force medical standards. They will undergo a detailed medical examination by Air Force Medical authorities. Key requirements include:

  • No history of major medical conditions
  • No color blindness
  • Normal hearing
  • No major dental abnormalities
  • No physical deformities that could interfere with musical performance
