Shape the future of clean, reliable energy in Florida. <br /> Peoples Gas is hiring an Energy Portfolio Analyst / Natural Gas Analyst to support natural gas forecasting, energy market analysis, and portfolio optimization across our utility operations. <br /> <br /> This role combines energy analytics, demand forecasting, trading support, and data modeling to help drive critical business decisions that impact energy reliability, affordability, and growth . <br /> <br />✅ Work at the intersection of energy markets, analytics, and strategy <br /> Build expertise in natural gas forecasting, portfolio optimization, and trading support <br /> Analyze natural gas supply, demand forecasting, and portfolio performance <br /> Build and maintain energy forecasting models (load, weather, demand trends)<br /> Support energy trading strategy and daily market analysis <br /> Evaluate gas supply contracts, pipeline capacity, storage, and pricing indices <br /> Develop data-driven insights to optimize the gas portfolio <br /> Partner cross-functionally with engineering, business planning, and operations <br /> Contribute to Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) and long-term energy strategy <br /> Level I – Energy Analyst (Entry Level)<br /> Early-career candidates launching into energy analytics, data analysis, or forecasting <br /> Perform analysis on natural gas markets, supply contracts, and pipeline assets <br /> Maintain forecasting models (load profiles, weather impacts, customer growth)<br /> Analyze data using Excel, databases, and basic modeling techniques <br /> Participate in trading calls and energy market discussions <br /> 1+ year experience in data analysis, modeling, or forecasting <br />~ Bachelor’s in Economics, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or related <br />~ Skills in Excel (pivot tables, lookups), data analysis, and reporting <br /><br /> SQL, VBA, or statistical modeling exposure <br /> Level II – Energy Portfolio Analyst <br /> Lead demand forecasting and energy modeling efforts <br /> Analyze energy markets, pipeline tariffs, and gas supply economics <br /> Support energy trading strategies with market insights <br /> Coordinate data and analytics across business units <br /> 3+ years in energy analytics, forecasting, or modeling <br />~ Strong experience with Excel modeling, VBA, or SQL <br />~ Knowledge of natural gas markets, pricing indices, or regulatory environment <br /><br /> MATLAB, hydraulic modeling, or advanced database experience <br /> Senior Energy Portfolio Analyst <br /> Subject matter experts in energy strategy, forecasting, and market analysis <br /> Lead Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) and long-term energy strategy <br /> Evaluate complex business development and infrastructure projects <br /> Provide insight into natural gas markets, pricing, and regional trends <br /> Lead cross-functional analytics projects and mentor junior analysts <br /> Drive improvements in data modeling, dashboards, and reporting <br /> 5+ years in natural gas analytics, energy markets, or portfolio strategy <br />~ Deep expertise in forecasting, modeling, and energy market analysis <br />~ Strong leadership, project ownership, and stakeholder alignment skills <br /><br /> Advanced analytics tools, VBA, MATLAB, or system modeling expertise <br /> <br /> Why Peoples Gas?<br /> Impactful Work: Shape Florida’s energy future through data-driven decisions <br /> Our community relies on Peoples Gas to respond swiftly and effectively to all types of incidents, including but not limited to major storm events (e.g., extreme cold, tropical storms, hurricanes), gas leaks, equipment failures, environmental hazards, and other emergencies that may impact public safety or service continuity. <br /> Peoples Gas depends on each team member to fulfill their primary and/or alternate roles and responsibilities during such incidents.
