SONET/DWDM Telecom Engineer

<p> We are seeking a SONET/DWDM Telecom Engineer to design, implement, test, and support optical transport and telecommunications networks. The role requires strong expertise in DWDM, SONET, fiber optics, microwave, MPLS, and Ethernet technologies. </p><h5><b> Core Responsibilities </b></h5><ul><li> Design and support DWDM, SONET, TDM, MPLS, Ethernet, and fiber-optic transport networks. </li><li> Develop engineering plans, scopes of work, BOMs, technical specifications, and network designs. </li><li> Support optical networks for SCADA, OT, RTUs, protection systems, and enterprise communications. </li><li> Perform equipment commissioning, network turn-up, acceptance testing, troubleshooting, and service restoration. </li><li> Conduct BERT, OTDR, optical power, spectrum, and fiber testing. </li><li> Develop wavelength plans, optical power/loss budgets, configurations, and capacity upgrades. </li><li> Troubleshoot DWDM components including transponders, muxponders, amplifiers, and ROADMs. </li><li> Support microwave radio engineering, deployment, testing, and troubleshooting. </li><li> Create MOPs, test plans, engineering standards, and as-built documentation. </li><li> Coordinate with engineering, operations, vendors, and contractors. </li><li> Support maintenance, migrations, cutovers, and emergency restoration activities. </li></ul><h5><b> Required Qualifications </b></h5><ul><li> Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience. </li><li>3+ years of telecommunications or IT experience with a bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience. </li><li> Strong knowledge of DWDM, SONET, TDM, Ethernet, MPLS, and optical transmission. </li><li> Hands-on experience with fiber-optic testing and telecommunications test equipment. </li><li> Experience with network commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance validation. </li><li> Knowledge of optical power/loss budgets and fiber characterization. </li><li> Strong technical documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. </li><li> Ability to travel to network and project sites and work off-hours when required. </li></ul><h5><b> Preferred Qualifications </b></h5><ul><li> Experience with Cisco NCS 2006, ONS 15454, CTP, or EPNM. </li><li> Microwave/RF communications experience. </li><li> Experience supporting OT, utility, energy, industrial control, or critical infrastructure networks. </li><li> Knowledge of telecommunications cybersecurity and FCC requirements. </li></ul>
