Job Description

Job Description
Mobile Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic Laval, QC
Location: Laval, Quebec Schedule: Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM Pay: $35.50 – $40.50 per hour, including evening and mobile premiums
Tired of being the one who fixes what nobody else can, and getting paid the same as everyone else?
We are hiring an experienced heavy duty truck mechanic — diesel tractors, trailers, and heavy road vehicles — for a mobile unit role north of Montreal.

You know the trucks better than the people writing your paycheck do. You are the one they call when the diagnostic does not make sense, when the unit has been in the bay twice already, when the customer is waiting. That should be worth something.

Here it is. This is a mobile role, which means you are trusted to work alone, make the call, and get the equipment moving. Nobody looking over your shoulder.

Our Laval shop is the only location in the district authorized to perform SAAQ inspections. That is not a small thing. It means the work here is broader than a standard bay job, and the people who work here tend to stay.
What you'll do

Diagnose and repair heavy road vehicles, tractors, and trailers

Handle road calls as the first responder when equipment goes down in the field

Work on site at customer yards, including regular work with one of our largest accounts

Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections

Complete SAAQ mechanical inspections once certified

Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, suspension, steering, hydraulic, air, and electrical systems

Document your work accurately and keep the equipment record clean

What you bring
Fluent French is required for this location. SAAQ inspection work makes it non-negotiable.

You need one of the following:

A trade certification in heavy vehicle mechanics (DEP 5330 or carte de compétence) with 2 years of experience, or

5 years of recent, continuous heavy vehicle mechanic experience with no trade certification required

That second path is real. Quebec is one of the only provinces where proven experience counts on its own. If you learned it in the bay instead of the classroom and you can do the work, you qualify.

Also required:

Valid Canadian provincial driver's license. An international license does not qualify.

Eligibility to travel to the United States within a six-month window, in case training requires it

Your own hand tools

Eligibility to obtain SAAQ inspection certification — we pay for the training, and you complete it within your first three months

Nice to have: road service experience, PEP attestation, Class 1 or Class 3 license, manufacturer training on any major engine platform.
Total earning potential
Your hourly rate is only part of it.

Base rate of $30 – $35 per hour depending on experience

Evening shift premium of $3.00 per hour on this schedule

Mobile unit premium of $2.50 per hour

Overtime available and paid at premium

Weekend hours carry a shift premium when applicable

SAAQ certification training paid in full by us, roughly an $1,100 value, plus ongoing manufacturer and technical training

Group insurance including health, dental, vision, life, and disability

RRSP with company match

Tool and boot allowance

Paid vacation and holidays

Uniforms provided and maintained

Real path forward. We promote from within, and we hire with the next role already in mind.

Mots cles / keywords: mecanicien vehicules lourds routiers, technicien diesel, mecanicien de camion, mecanicien de remorque, aide-mecanicien, DEP MVLR, EMEMM, CFTR, CFP Paul-Gerin-Lajoie, carte de competence, comite paritaire, CPA Montreal, compagnon, carte PEP, programme d'entretien preventif, inspecteur SAAQ, mandataire en verification mecanique, carte halocarbures, permis classe 1, permis classe 3, mention F, freins pneumatiques, Cummins INSITE, Detroit Diesel DDDL, Volvo, Mack, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, International, heavy duty truck technician, trailer technician, diesel mechanic, Boucherville, Longueuil, Laval, Saint-Laurent, Montreal, Monteregie, Rive-Sud, Rive-Nord, Laurentides
