The ideal candidate will develop, maintain, and support software for the Index Engines’ Linux application and will work closely with the Index Engines’ Support Organization to resolve customer issues.<br /><br /></p><p><strong>What You’ll Do</strong><br /></p><ul><li>Design and build distributed systems that are scalable, reliable, and secure</li><li>Guide technical discussions and help shape architectural decisions</li><li>Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and platform components</li><li>Collaborate closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and Security teams</li><li>Enhance system performance, visibility, and resilience</li><li>Write clear, maintainable, and well-tested code</li><li>Contribute to code reviews and support the growth of junior engineers</li><li>Promote strong practices in development, CI/CD, and testing</li><li>Investigate and resolve production issues to maintain high availability<br /><br /></li></ul><p><strong>What You Bring</strong><br /></p><ul><li>4–7 years of professional experience in software engineering</li><li>Strong skills in C and Python</li><li>Experience with high-availability systems, clustering, or distributed storage/backup solutions</li><li>Familiarity with Agile or Scrum workflows</li><li>Hands-on experience with distributed systems and microservices</li><li>Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design</li><li>Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services</li><li>Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP</li><li>Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills<br /><br /></li></ul><p><strong>We'd Love It If You Have</strong><br /></p><ul><li>Experience with tools like SVN, Git, Jira, Confluence, or Bitbucket</li><li>Comfort using GenAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) in development workflows</li><li>Experience administering Linux systems</li><li>Familiarity with backup technologies and database systems</li><li>Exposure to VMFS/SCSI development</li><li>Understanding of communication protocols</li><li>Basic knowledge of server hardware and networking</li><li>A Master’s degree in computer science or a related field</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><strong>Why You'll Love Working Here</strong><br /></p><p>At Index Engines, you’ll join a team that’s equal parts smart, supportive, and a little nerdy (in the best way possible).
