Principal Software Engineer

<h3>Job Description</h3><div><p>Principal Software Engineer | New York, NY (Hybrid) | $200,000 to $250,000 base plus equity</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>I am recruiting a Principal Software Engineer for a venture-backed healthcare company in New York City. They are moving from an outsourced engineering team to a small in-house team. You would be the first engineering hire and would work directly with the CEO.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>The product is in high demand by patients and clinicians. You will see the effect of your work on real users from the first month, and in a regulated space, correctness and reliability matter.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>What you will do:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Write production code and own architecture across the full platform, including patient-facing products, clinical tools and AI adoption</li>\n <li>Work with the CEO to turn clinical, growth and operations needs into technical plans, without detailed PRDs</li>\n <li>Lead and transition the existing offshore team, and set standards for code review and quality</li>\n <li>Drive AI adoption across the company</li>\n <li>Lay the groundwork for an onshore team of 2 to 3 engineers over the next 6 to 12 months</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>What you need:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>6 or more years in full-stack engineering</li>\n <li>TypeScript, Node.js, React and AWS</li>\n <li>Experience owning a complex consumer product, ideally in a regulated space</li>\n <li>Confidence making product decisions on your own</li>\n <li>Experience leading engineers, including remote or offshore teams</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>The package:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Base salary: $200,000 to $250,000 per year</li>\n <li>Equity: 0.2% to 0.4%</li>\n <li>Hybrid: 3 days a week in the New York City office</li>\n <li>Visa transfers considered (OPT, H1B)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Pay range: $200,000 to $250,000 per year.
