Our firm offers a small and supportive team environment with lots of opportunity for development and growth our team is a mix of employees who have recently qualified for or are working towards their CPA designation and employees who have been with us for 10+ years!<br /><br /></p><p>Responsibilities</p><ul><li> Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of owner-managed business clients, building strong client relationships and providing practical day-to-day guidance.<br /></li><li> Manage compilation and corporate tax compliance files from planning through completion, including coordinating information requests, timelines, budgets and client communication.<br /></li><li> Review working papers, financial statements, corporate tax returns (T2s) and related schedules for accuracy, completeness and consistency with the clients business.<br /></li><li>Identify and resolve common accounting and tax issues that arise in owner-managed business files, including shareholder loans, payroll matters, GST/PST/WCB considerations, dividends, salaries, instalments and year-end planning matters.<br /></li><li> Provide basic tax planning and advisory support for clients, and involve the firms tax specialists when a matter requires more advanced tax planning or technical analysis.<br /></li><li> Develop an understanding of each clients business, key risks and opportunities to deliver added value through timely advice and clear communication.<br /></li><li>Monitor file progress in relation to budgets, WIP, due dates, billing and collections, and communicate proactively with partners and clients where issues arise.<br /></li><li> Mentor, motivate and coach <span>junior/intermediate</span> team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and training.<br /><br /></li></ul><p>Skills and Experience</p><ul><li> CPA (Canadian) designation.<br /></li><li>4+years of relevant, progressive experience at a public accounting firm.<br /></li><li> Experience managing and reviewing compilation and corporate tax compliance files for owner-managed businesses.<br /></li><li> Strong working knowledge of Canadian corporate tax compliance, including T2 corporate tax returns and related schedules.<br /></li><li> Ability to identify common owner-managed business tax planning opportunities and client issues; advanced tax planning experience is not required.<br /></li><li> Strong client communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting and tax matters clearly to business owners and high-net-worth clients.<br /></li><li> Proven ability to multi-task and meet competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.<br /></li><li> Proven people management, coaching and relationship-building skills.<br /><br /></li></ul><p>Benefits:</p><ul><li> Casual dress<br /></li><li> Dental care<br /></li><li> Extended health care<br /></li><li> On-site gym<br /></li><li> On-site parking<br /></li><li> Paid time off<br /></li><li> Work from home<br /><br /></li></ul><p>Schedule:</p><ul><li> Monday to Friday<br /><br /></li></ul><p>Ability to commute/relocate:</p><ul><li> Burnaby, BC V5C 5T5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).
