<p>Under the direction of the Project Manager or Project Engineer, the Mechanical Designer designs and drafts mechanical and/or electro‑mechanical sub‑assemblies used in the thermal processing of specialty materials.<br /><br />Job Responsibilities<br /><br />Works independently or collaboratively to develop design concepts, detailed designs, and detailed fabrication drawings that fulfill contractual obligations, projects schedules, and company goals.<br /><br />Collaborates with and delegates to internal and external partners during the design, drafting, and manufacturing phase.<br /><br />Checks design and drafting work prior to Project Engineer approval to ensure requirements are satisfied.<br /><br />Works closely with the Project Engineer to solve problems that may arise during any phase of the project.<br /><br />Responsible for implementations and follow‑up of his/her portion of the project after the Project Engineer establishes a course of action to solve a particular problem.<br /><br />Performs a substantial amount of 3D CAD modeling and 2D detailing work for individual parts and assemblies.<br /><br />Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities<br /><br />Working knowledge of design practices as relates to vacuum vessels or systems.<br /><br />Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.<br /><br />Strong understanding of manufacturing concepts used in the fabrication and assembly of industrial assemblies, weldments, and detail parts.<br /><br />Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, project requirements documents, and procedure manuals.<br /><br />Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.<br /><br />Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.<br /><br />Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions percentages, area, circumference, and volume.<br /><br />Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.<br /><br />Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.<br /><br />Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.<br /><br />Strong working knowledge of CAD software e.g., Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, Mechanical Desktop, and similar CAD platforms.<br /><br />Working knowledge of Product Data Management software (e.g. Autodesk Vault, SolidWorks PDM).<br /><br />Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.<br /><br />Education and Experience<br /><br />Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two‑year College, but 4 years preferred.<br /><br />2-5 years of experience in a Designer or Drafter role at minimum. More experience preferred.<br /><br />Personal Skills/Attributes required for the Position<br /><br />Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external customers.<br /><br />Exceptional organization skills with attention to detail.<br /><br />Ability to be proactive and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.<br /><br />Detail‑orientated with ability to respond quickly to a fast‑moving and ever‑changing environment.<br /><br />Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.<br /><br />Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.<br /><br />Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.<br /><br />#J-18808-Ljbffr</p>
