<p>Session: Spring (January - May)<br />Position Title:Intern - Economic Assistance Benefits Specialist Intern<br /><br />Session: Spring (January - May)<br />Position Title:Intern - Economic Assistance Benefits Specialist Intern<br /><br />Hiring Manager: Codie Hendrickson<br /><br />Agency:Department of Social Services<br /><br />Location: Aberdeen, SD<br /><br />Minimum Salary: $20.00 hourly<br /><br />APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.<br /><br />Position Description<br />This position assesses and analyzes current life circumstances and financial capabilities to provide assistance and services to low income individuals and their families by interviewing, counseling, and identifying available resources; obtaining records, verifying collateral information and determining eligibility for multiple social service programs; responding to public inquiries regarding social services and benefits; and interpreting rules, regulations, and policies to ensure appropriate benefits and services are provided in an effective and expedient manner to assist in the individual's basic self-sufficiency.<br /><br />Coursework in sociology, psychology, human development, and case management would be considered.<br /><br />Qualifications<br />Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
