This is an in-office position, and candidates must be local to our office location.<br /><br />The Distribution Designer II will perform field data collection, detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems and back-office work to support those functions. This includes gathering field data for designs, entering the information into various programs, and preparing field notes, drawings, specifications and estimates as defined by the client's scope of work document. The Distribution Designer II may be responsible for providing direction, training, supervision, and guidance of other design staff of equal or lower grade as directed by a supervisor.<br /><br />Responsibilities<br /><br />Design and prepare construction orders related to overhead and underground facilities associated with electric distribution systems, applying prescribed standards, guidelines, specifications, and procedures.<br /><br />Gather equipment information in the field for design using tools such as IKE Office, Katapult and a Hastings Stick.<br /><br />Prepare field notes and design using data collection tools including SPIDAcalc and other client tools.<br /><br />Transfer field notes to a structural design team and contribute to the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions.<br /><br />Prepare computer‑assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with neatness and a minimum of errors.<br /><br />Perform design services requiring a full understanding of drawings, specifications, and industry and company standards covering the assigned work.<br /><br />Prepare engineering calculations (pole loading, guying, transformer sizing, conductor loading/sagging, load studies, voltage studies).<br /><br />Coordinate design development to meet project schedules.<br /><br />Provide training and technical support for other distribution design classifications.<br /><br />Achieve weekly billable goals as defined by the project guidelines.<br /><br />Perform other duties as assigned.<br /><br />Qualifications<br /><br />Two (2) years of progressive development as a Distribution Designer or equivalent.<br /><br />Additional client‑specific requirements may apply.<br /><br />High school diploma or equivalent.<br /><br />Thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters in electrical distribution design.<br /><br />Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) preferred.<br /><br />Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications desired.<br /><br />Strong organizational skills with the ability to track and manage day‑to‑day activities.<br /><br />Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.<br /><br />Preferred Tools and Certifications<br /><br />AutoCAD / PLS CADD or similar programs preferred.<br /><br />Proficient use of engineering software (preferred).<br /><br />Pole Forman.<br /><br />SpidaCalc.<br /><br />G/Tech.<br /><br />WorkPro.<br /><br />PLS‑CADD.<br /><br />Design Manager.<br /><br />Ivue.<br /><br />No certifications required.<br /><br />Clear and valid driver's license required.<br /><br />Must be 21 years of age or older.<br /><br />Occasional travel primarily regional to the utility client(s) territory during the business day or overnight.<br /><br />Storm duty.<br /><br />Benefits<br /><br />Medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance.<br /><br />401(k) package that includes both traditional and Roth IRA options and company match.<br /><br />Paid time off contingent upon full‑time or part‑time status and level of seniority (15–25 days per year).<br /><br />All full‑time employees enjoy at least 8 paid holidays per year.<br /><br />All employees, including those that work part‑time, receive paid sick, family, and disability leave in accordance with state laws.<br /><br />*These benefits are applicable to US employees depending on their employment status (full time, part time, or temporary).
