The role is based in Rockport, TX.<br /><br />Purpose<br />The purpose of this role is to assist or lead education programs, public Science-On-A-Sphere presentations and daily activities at the Bay Education Center in Rockport, Texas.<br /><br />Responsibilities<br /><br />Direct and conduct Bay Education Center programs, Science on a Sphere, K-12 programs, community education, and other scheduled indoor or outdoor education programs and exhibits, including staffing of part‑time staff and volunteers.<br /><br />Responsible for publicity of the Bay Education Center, science, education, and community-involvement programs through presentations, Bay Talk series, social media, brochures, etc.<br /><br />Oversee Bay Education Center budgets and purchases, provide annual reports and other reporting and presentations.<br /><br />Create new public program content for Science on a Sphere for all learners.<br /><br />Oversee daily supervision and work direction for BEC part-time staff and volunteers, including contributing to annual performance evaluations, managing work schedules and annual leave, and supporting volunteer recruitment events.<br /><br />Assist with other UTMSI/Reserve programs and projects such as EDBD, TOTE Workshops, Monarch Madness, etc.<br /><br />Draft and monitor Rockport Hotel Occupancy Tax quarterly reports and annual renewal request.<br /><br />Other related functions as assigned.<br /><br />Required Qualifications<br /><br />High School Diploma.<br /><br />Education experience in a classroom or nature center setting.<br /><br />Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.<br /><br />Preferred Qualifications<br /><br />Four‑year degree in environmental science, education, or equivalent.<br /><br />Salary Range<br />$16.11 per hour up to 19 hours per week.<br /><br />Working Conditions<br />The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. May be requested to work during special program events.<br /><br />Work Shift<br />19-hour work shift spread throughout a Tuesday‑Saturday work week from 10am – 4pm. A six-hour shift is required on Friday and Saturday, with the rest of the 19 hours used during the work week.
