Founding Product Designer

<p><strong>Founding Product Designer | AI Startup | 4–7% equity</strong></p><p><br /></p><p><strong>New York or San Francisco · In person</strong></p><p><br /></p><p>I’m hiring a Founding Product Designer to work directly with the founder and define how businesses interact with AI agents.</p><p><br /></p><p>The founder is <strong>ex-Google and ex-Spotify</strong>, and previously co-founded a <strong>YC-backed startup</strong>. Funding is secured and the first customer agreements are signed.</p><p><br /></p><p>The company is building AI agents to run operations across real-world commerce, connecting workflows across customer onboarding, inventory, administration and billing.</p><p><br /></p><p>The design challenge is making that experience clear and intuitive: helping business owners delegate work, understand what agents are doing, approve decisions and resolve exceptions.</p><p><br /></p><p>As the first designer, you’ll own the product experience from customer discovery through to the first shipped product.</p><p><br /></p><p>You’ll:</p><ul><li>Work directly with the founder and customers to understand how their businesses operate.</li><li>Design how users assign work to agents, monitor progress and stay in control.</li><li>Develop interaction patterns from first principles and choose the right interface for each task.</li><li>Take ideas through user flows, prototypes and detailed product design, working closely with the founding engineers.</li><li>Set the design direction, with scope to build and lead the design team as the company grows.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>I’m looking for a portfolio that demonstrates <strong>strong product judgment, interaction design and visual craft</strong>, alongside evidence of taking an ambiguous problem through to a product people actually use.</p><p><br /></p><p>You should be comfortable simplifying complex workflows, explaining your design decisions and working directly with customers and engineers.</p><p><br /></p><p>Experience with AI products or complex operational software would be useful.
