Sr Java Backend Developer

<p>At <em>Coderio Software Company </em>we are creating a new squad to work with one of our clients in the banking industry.</p><p>You'll be working on high-impact backend systems using Java 21, AWS, and event-driven microservices, helping to build scalable, cloud-native solutions in a modern engineering environment.</p><p><br /></p><p>Role: Senior Java Developer.</p><p>Location: Miami Lakes</p><p>Work scheme: Hybrid (office x3 &amp; remote x2)</p><p><em>Three-stage recruitment process, with a F2F interview.</em></p><p><br /></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p><br /></p><ul><li>Backend Architecture &amp; Execution: Design, build, test, and deploy Spring Boot microservices following strict team standards. You will own your code from design to production.</li><li>Distributed Systems &amp; Event-Driven Flows: Implement publish/subscribe async messaging and handle distributed transactions using saga or orchestration patterns.</li><li>API Design &amp; Integration: Design and consume REST APIs, webhooks, and subscription APIs, while actively contributing to API contracts and versioning.</li><li>Cloud-Native Engineering: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code for your services, operating heavily on AWS.</li><li>Operational Excellence: Diagnose and resolve issues across distributed services utilizing observability tools like New Relic, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry for logging, tracing, and metrics.</li><li>Advanced AI &amp; Agentic Workflows: Integrate LLMs into services (function/tool calling, structured outputs, and the Model Context Protocol) and build agentic workflows, ensuring AI safety and governance (guardrails, PII/PCI handling) in a regulated setting.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>Requirements:</p><p><br /></p><ul><li>Technical Foundation: Senior level with 6+ years of experience building backend services in Java 21 and at least 2+ years specifically in microservices and event-driven systems.</li><li>Stack Expertise: Deep, hands-on mastery of Java 21 with strong OOP and concurrency fundamentals, alongside production experience in Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.</li><li>Cloud Architecture: Solid, demonstrable production experience with AWS services including DynamoDB, Kinesis, SQS, SNS, KMS, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, Lambda, IAM, and RDS.</li><li>AI Proficiency: Fluency with AI-assisted development (like Claude Code or Copilot) with the critical judgment to review AI-generated code.</li><li>Testing Discipline: Solid testing discipline utilizing JUnit, Mockito, and integration testing.</li><li>Location &amp; Engagement: Must be located in the Miami / Fort Lauderdale area and available to work 100% on-site for a contract engagement.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>Nice to Have:</p><p><br /></p><ul><li>Financial services or payments domain experience, specifically with payment messaging standards such as ISO 20022 and the legacy FAIM (Fedwire) format.</li><li>Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).</li><li>Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK).</li><li>Experience with workflow and orchestration engines such as Temporal, Camunda, or AWS Step Functions.</li><li>Advanced AI skills: vector stores/RAG, prompt engineering, and AI observability.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><em>Offer valid for W2 or 1099 contracts.
