Sustainability Analyst

<p></p><p>The Sustainability Analyst will provide environmental analysis on a variety of projects related to the built environment. Responsibilities include conceptual energy modeling, embodied carbon and environmental analysis for planning, architecture, interiors and consulting projects that may result in third‑party sustainable certification. The analyst works alongside architects, designers and engineers to analyze and integrate high‑performance strategies into design, and develops documents for third‑party certifications such as LEED, Fitwel, WELL, etc. </p> <h3>Responsibilities </h3> <ul> <li>Support Sustainable Design analysis, including whole building life‑cycle assessment, daylighting, glare and thermal comfort studies, and conceptual energy modeling. </li> <li>Guide and advise design teams, providing high‑performance design input and analysis to ensure consistent, high‑quality design throughout the studio. </li> <li>Support LEED project administration and compliance reporting. </li> <li>Assist in the preparation and delivery of sustainable design presentations to clients and drive consultant work to achieve design goals. </li> </ul> <h3>Preferred Qualifications </h3> <ul> <li>3+ years of environmental analysis experience. </li> <li>Experience with early energy and daylight modeling software: Climate Studio, DIVA, Radiance, DAYSIM, CoveTool, Equest, Energy Plus. </li> <li>Experience with embodied carbon analysis and whole building life‑cycle assessment using OneClick LCA, EC3, Tally, etc. </li> <li>LEED Accredited Professional with specialty designation preferred. </li> <li>Active tracking for Registered Architect or Professional Engineer licensure preferred but not required. </li> </ul> <h3>Required Qualifications </h3> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Planning or a closely related field. </li> <li>Minimum of 3 years of experience in architecture, interior design, planning or engineering. </li> <li>Knowledge of sustainability, building science, integrated design and third‑party rating system guidelines (e.g., LEED, Envision). </li> <li>Knowledge of certification standards (LEED, BREEM, LBC, etc.) and application to projects across all HDR Business Groups. </li> <li>Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, providing high‑quality service to clients. </li> <li>Self‑starter with proactive initiative and strong communication skills. </li> <li>Excellent writing, grammar, punctuation, spelling and proofreading skills. </li> <li>Energetic, outgoing personality to inspire project teams, ability to work unscheduled overtime as needed. </li> <li>Experience working on multiple projects annually, executing project work plans and deliverables. </li> <li>Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator). </li> <li>Some travel will be necessary. </li> <li>Commitment to being an active participant in an employee‑owned culture. </li> </ul> <h3>Skills and Competencies </h3> <ul> <li>Preliminary knowledge of CA Green Building Code and Energy Code. </li> <li>Familiarity with healthy material selection and certifications (red‑list free, EPDs, HPDs, etc.). </li> <li>Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM). </li> <li>Proficiency in early energy and daylight modeling software (Climate Studio, DIVA, Radiance, DAYSIM, CoveTool, Equest, Energy Plus). </li> <li>Proficiency in embodied carbon analysis and whole building life‑cycle assessment tools (OneClick LCA, EC3, Tally, etc.). </li> <li>Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp; familiarity with Grasshopper, Ladybug and Honeybee preferred. </li> </ul> <h3>EEO Statement </h3> <p>HDR is committed to the principles of employment equity.
