Senior Mainframe Developer

<h3>Job Purpose</h3><br /><p>The MSP development community is the heart of MSP Mortgage Technology. Our focus is to enhance, maintain, and support both internal and client-facing MSP functionality through efficiencies, and associated processes that drive improvements which grow, protect and preserve the integrity of MSP for our clients.</p><br /><p>The Senior Software Engineer is a core contributor to the MSP development team, responsible for the design, development, and ongoing support of mainframe-based mortgage servicing solutions. This role leads technically on projects of appropriate scope, delivers quality COBOL/CICS solutions aligned with business requirements and architectural standards, and actively contributes to the growth and capability of the broader engineering team.</p><br /><h3>Responsibilities</h3><br /><ul><br /><li>Interpret, write new, and/or modify existing COBOL Batch and CICS programs timely and efficiently according to business requirements and documented standards</li><br /><li>Familiarity with in-house source-code tools, development tools, development, testing, and implementation processes and procedures.</li><br /><li>Able to collaborate with peers, teams, and departments successfully and respectfully.</li><br /><li>Able to research, analyze, strategize, formulate, problem-solve, and implement coding solutions within expected timelines.</li><br /><li>Serves as technical lead, architect, or principal developer on projects of appropriate scope and complexity.</li><br /><li>Provides and guides production support for in-production applications, including participation in the secondary on-call rotation.</li><br /><li>Mentors and guides less experienced developers, contributing to team growth and knowledge transfer.</li><br /><li>Participates in a secondary on-call schedule to support production operations outside of business hours.</li><br /><li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li><br /></ul><br /><h3>Knowledge and Experience</h3><br /><ul><br /><li>Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.</li><br /><li>8+ years z/OS mainframe application development technologies such as Batch/CICS COBOL, JCL, IDz, ISPW, REXX, TSO; Java/Java plug-ins, Assembler, C* are a plus.</li><br /><li>Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills - ability to foresee problems, identify/implement solutions that are reliable, scalable, and efficient where applicable.</li><br /><li>Excellent leadership skills (defined as the ability to influence or induce others in a direction, course, action, or opinion to produce positive results for the organization or a client).</li><br /><li>Ability to communicate well with technical and non-technical audiences.</li><br /><li>Knowledge with AI-assisted development tools, particularly with Claude Code knowledge/ experience is considered a strong plus</li><br /><li>Results oriented, business focused, and successful at interfacing across multiple organizational units.</li><br /><li>Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with little guidance or formal training.</li><br /><li>Ability to identify opportunities to create, improve or enhance tools and processes to improve productivity and help minimize Production risk.</li><br /><li>Performs well under pressure/time constraints.</li><br /><li>Adaptable, Approachable, able to give/take direction.</li><br /><li>Continual learner.</li><br /><li>Mortgage/MSP knowledge and understanding of FM a plus.</li><br /><li>Familiarity with FM/MSP production job flows and processes.</li><br /></ul><br /><h3>Technologies</h3><br /><ul><br /><li>COBOL for Z/OS, CICS, IDz, (C*, Assembler, JCL, REXX a plus).</li><br /><li>VSAM/DB2 file structures, ISPW source code/release management</li><br /><li>TSO/ISPF mainframe interfaces</li><br /><li>Utilities (IDCAMS, FILEAID, XPEDITER, QUIKJOB, LIBRARIAN, RDZ - Rational Suite)</li><br /><li>MS Office (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, Visio)</li><br /></ul><br /><p>Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
