<div><h3>Overview</h3><p>BRMS / Drools (Java) Developer at Lumenalta. Fully remote position with work based in the United States time zones (Pacific, Central, or Eastern). Base pay range presented: $60,000.00/yr - $96,000.00/yr; final compensation determined by qualifications and experience.</p><h3>What You’ll Do</h3><ul><li>Design, develop, and optimize business rules using the Drools Rule Engine, integrating these rules into Java/Spring Boot enterprise applications.</li><li>Develop and implement Decision Model and Notation (DMN) models and complex event processing (CEP) features using Drools Fusion.</li><li>Build and maintain microservice architectures, ensuring seamless integration of rule-based services.</li><li>Containerize and deploy Drools applications using Docker and manage them in AWS cloud environments.</li><li>Configure, tune, and maintain application servers such as WildFly (JBoss AS) and Tomcat.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Analysts and Product Managers, to translate complex business logic into executable rules.</li><li>Implement and maintain automated test suites to validate rule execution and ensure system stability.</li><li>Monitor, optimize, and continuously improve rule performance and scalability.</li></ul><h3>Required Skills & Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.</li><li>7+ years of experience in Java development with a strong focus on the Drools Rule Engine.</li><li>Hands-on experience with Drools Workbench, KIE Execution Server, and KIE APIs.</li><li>Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.</li><li>Experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms, preferably AWS.</li><li>Strong understanding of rule-based systems, decision tables, and rule optimization techniques.</li><li>Familiarity with Agile methodologies and test automation frameworks (JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber).</li></ul><h3>Nice to Have</h3><ul><li>Experience with Red Hat Decision Manager (RHDM) or other enterprise BRMS tools.</li><li>Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and infrastructure as code.</li><li>Exposure to performance tuning, rule versioning, and governance in production environments.</li><li>Familiarity with API integration and REST-based decision services.</li></ul><p>This position is open to candidates based in the United States only.
