SPECIAL EDUCATION COORDINATOR - TX <br /> The Special Education Campus Coordinator (in collaboration with the Special Education Director, Regional Coordinator, and Campus Headmaster) will: <br />· Coordinate all aspects of the Child Centered Special Education Process on assigned campus. <br />· Ensure that the ARD/IEP process and the quality of programs for students with disabilities are in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. <br /> <br /> Great Hearts Academies is a growing network of 49 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free schools in San Antonio (TX), Dallas/Ft. We currently provide over 24,000 K-12 students with access to a high quality, classical liberal arts education, without the barriers that often come with private prep schools. We gladly prepare our graduates for success in the best universities in the nation, but our main purpose is the formation of the soul, heart, and mind. We believe that the highest goal of education is to become good, intellectually and morally. <br /> <br /> Exceptional Benefits (medical, dental, vision etc.) Texas Teacher Retirement System <br /> <br /> Salary based on years of Special Education leadership experience and level of degrees earned. <br /> <br /> Education/Certification: <br />· Valid Texas Special Education Teaching Certification/Appropriate Board Licensure <br />· Valid Texas Generalist/Core content Teaching Certification with required endorsements or training for relevant subject and level <br /> <br /> 3-5 years of successful Special Education teaching experience <br />· Campus leadership experience in Special Education <br />· Experience coaching/mentoring teachers and/or providing professional development <br /> <br /> Ability to prepare appropriate individual education program (IEPs)<br />· Knowledge of local, state and federal rules and regulations pertaining to special education <br />· Knowledge of various special education eligibility conditions and the challenges to learning <br />· Basic computer skills <br />· Special Education at Great Hearts <br />· At Great Hearts, our Special Education Teachers and Coordinators are integral members of our faculty, participating in all faculty-wide events and PD, while also bringing the specialized expertise that is necessary for the success of all our students. <br />· Great Hearts aims to serve all students within our special education population in a manner that affirms and reflects their dignity and rightful participation within the larger student body and academy. <br />· Through consultation, resource, inclusion, and co-teaching models, the Special Education team provides essential support, following an Individualized Education Plan, to ensure each student is served in the least restrictive environment possible. <br /> Job Type: Full-time <br /> Schedule: Monday to Friday <br /> Dental insurance <br /> Health insurance <br /> Life insurance <br /> Retirement plan <br /> Education: <br />~ Special education: Special Education Leadership : 1 year (Preferred)<br /> Special Education Certification (Required)
