Medical Office Specialist, Home Care Services<br /><br />Responsible for daily operations of Home Care office functions including but not limited to: patient registration, insurance verification, screens and directs telephone calls, provides service to patients, in their home, on the phone and at the out-patient building. Responsible for all processes relating to patient supplies. Includes patient equipment, oxygen set-up and providing patient education. See required skills for details.<br />Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.<br />Minimum Work Experience: Two years of experience is required if equivalent training has not been received. Previous healthcare experience preferred.<br />Required Skills: Excellent customer skills. Computer skills as well as the ability to type with accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation is required. Having the ability to speak clearly and concisely with patients and providers is crucial. Must be able to perform duties and maintain personal conduct, attitude and appearance that conform to policies and procedures of the facility. Skills in establishing and maintaining effective and professional relationships with patients, medical staff, clerical staff and the public will be essential.<br />Physical Requirements: Sitting - 16-31%. Walking - >32%. Standing - >32%. Bending/Squatting - 16-31%. Climbing/Kneeling - 16-31%. Twisting - 16-31%. OSHA Category: Minimal potential for direct exposures. Visual and Hearing Requirements: Must be able to see with corrective eyewear. Must be able to hear clearly with assistance. Other Physical/Environmental Demands: Lifting - 0-50lbs, 50lbs or more with assistance. Carrying - 0-50lbs, 50lbs or more with assistance. Pulling - up to 100lbs. Pushing - up to 100lbs. Manually transfers oxygen reservoirs that weigh around 50 lbs. Handles compressed gaseous oxygen.<br />Leadership Capabilities: Mission, Service, and Values. Supports the hospital Mission, Service and Values.<br />Essential Functions: Accurately obtains and enters patient information. Assist with home health nurses schedule. Professionally responds to phone inquiries from reimbursement sources and patients. Compiles and submits data to reporting regulatory agencies. Demonstrates working knowledge of HCPCS codes. Compiles visit and encounter information for productivity reporting. May monitor, develop and maintain processes for billing as regulatory changes are made. May monitor and maintain billing system for submission of claims, denial of claims and claim errors. Assists with deposits and taking payments from patients. Able to work with minimum supervision. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Understands how to prioritize responsibilities to ensure completion of duties. Demonstrates strong organizational skills. Demonstrates knowledge of Electronic Medical Record. Trains and serves as a resource person to staff. Floats to other areas as requested and responds to assignment with positive attitude. Participates in staff meetings. Maintains patient confidentiality. Knowledge of HIPAA awareness and compliance with emphasis on respect of the patients' right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality. Maintains annual Employee Health screening requirements as required by policy.<br /><br />
