Clinic Referral Specialist - Urology/Pulmonology Clinic<br /><br />Scheduling patient appointments, maintaining accurate records and data and completes follow up on referrals. Enters insurance benefits, demographics and precertification/authorizations information into the patient electronic medical record.<br />Minimum Education<br />High School Diploma or equivalent is required.<br />Associates degree in related field preferred<br />Minimum Work Experience<br />One year experience in a related field is preferred<br />knowledge of medical terminology required<br />Required Skills<br />Ability to proficiently read, write, and communicate effectively<br />Demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with customers and providers<br />Project a professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills<br />Ability to operate office equipment such as faxes, phones, and copiers<br />Be familiar with medical terminology<br />Physical Requirements<br />Sitting - =>32%<br />Walking - 1-15%<br />Standing - 1-15%<br />Bending/Squatting - 1-15%<br />Climbing/Kneeling - 1-15%<br />Twisting - 1-15%<br />OSHA Category<br />Minimal potential for direct exposures.<br />Visual and Hearing Requirements<br />Must be able to see with corrective eye wear.<br />Must be able to hear clearly with assistance.<br />Other Physical/Environmental Demands<br />Lifting - 0-50lbs, 50lbs or more with assistance<br />Carrying - 0-50lbs, 50lbs or more with assistance<br />Pulling - up to 100lbs<br />Pushing - up to 100lbs<br />Essential Functions<br />Maintains documentation that is detailed, clearly stated, objective and accurate.<br />Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety.<br />Provide appropriate clinical information to specialist.<br />Assemble information concerning patient's clinical background and referral needs.<br />Demonstrate the ability to investigate and resolve any discrepancy in the referral process.<br />Consistently updates insurance and contact information so that the patients have the correct information on file.<br />Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients and other health care professionals.<br />Adheres to insurance rules/regulations and patient confidentiality laws. Able to work independently on assigned duties with little or no supervision. Demonstrates basic knowledge of medical terminology.<br />Demonstrates knowledge of hospital EMR system.<br />Review details and expectations about the referral with patients.<br />Routinely completes follow-up on referrals as required.<br />Any and all other duties as assigned.<br />Organizational Expectations<br />T.J.
