Project Analyst Intern

Project Analyst (Data and Research) Intern – Urban Analytics &amp; Economics<br />GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Part‑time, 6‑month paid internship in Orlando, Florida. The intern will support our Urban Analytics &amp; Economics practice and work on socioeconomic, demographic, fiscal, and economic trend projects for public, private, and institutional clients.<br /><br />Responsibilities<br /><br />Assist with data gathering, background research, and development of written and graphic summaries of findings.<br /><br />Support primary demographic, economic, fiscal, and real‑estate/site inventory research, including interviews and site visits as needed.<br /><br />Help organize datasets, identify trends and build financial or statistical models using GAI methodologies.<br /><br />Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and visual materials that communicate key insights.<br /><br />Collaborate on planned curriculum coursework, team meetings, scheduled events, project work, and field observations.<br /><br />Shadow senior staff to gain exposure to the full project lifecycle—from planning and design through construction.<br /><br />Learn and apply industry codes, standards, and best practices.<br /><br />Contribute ideas and provide general support to help ensure project success.<br /><br />Assist project teams with the preparation of drawings, plans, and technical documents.<br /><br />Conduct basic research, field observations, and site visits under supervision.<br /><br />Support design and engineering calculations, quantity takeoffs, and project documentation.<br /><br />Help maintain project files, records, and data organization.<br /><br />Draft or update 2D/3D models using AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or other discipline‑specific tools.<br /><br />Assist in developing reports, maps, exhibits, and project presentations.<br /><br />Review project specifications, submittals, and materials when applicable.<br /><br />Additional Considerations<br /><br />Experience or coursework in public finance, budgeting, or economic development is a plus.<br /><br />Applicants are encouraged to provide a portfolio of academic or professional writing and/or data organization examples.<br /><br />Qualifications<br /><br />Current student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Data Science, Urban Studies, Finance, Real Estate, Public Policy, Political Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.<br /><br />Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Office; familiarity or interest in ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).<br /><br />Interest in advancing analytical skills using tools such as Power BI or Power Query.<br /><br />Strong written and verbal communication abilities.<br /><br />Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.<br /><br />Curiosity, attention to detail, and a passion for research, analysis, and problem.<br /><br />Current Junior or Senior student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, or a related A/E/C discipline.<br /><br />Strong interest in the A/E/C industry and built‑environment problem‑solving.<br /><br />Basic proficiency in discipline‑specific design or modeling software (training provided).<br /><br />Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.<br /><br />Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.<br /><br />Willingness to learn, take initiative, and ask questions.<br /><br />Equal Opportunity<br />Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities.
