Description<br /><br />SAIC is seeking an experienced<br /><br />UX Designer<br /><br />to support a mission-critical modernization program delivering a modular, adaptable software suite of essential capabilities across multiple warfighting functions. In this role, you will serve as the creative and technical authority responsible for designing intuitive, mission-effective user experiences that bridge the gap between complex operational requirements and accessible, high-performance software interfaces.<br /><br />This position operates across cloud and tactical edge environments, supporting UX design, prototyping, and validation across the full software development lifecycle - from initial concept through fielding - in both garrison and deployed settings, including Denied, Degraded, Intermittent, and Low Bandwidth (DDIL) environments.<br /><br />The work is to be performed at the customer site at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD.<br /><br />This role is contingent upon award news in Fall 2026.<br /><br />Key Responsibilities:<br /><br />Design and deliver end-to-end user experience solutions including wireframes, prototypes, interaction models, and high-fidelity design specifications that address complex operational workflows across cloud and tactical edge environments<br /><br />Translate user research findings, operational requirements, and mission context into intuitive interface designs that optimize task performance, reduce cognitive load, and minimize training requirements for operational end-users<br /><br />Serve as the primary design authority, collaborating with UX researchers, requirements analysts, and development teams to ensure Human System Integration (HSI) principles and UI/UX best practices are embedded throughout the software development lifecycle<br /><br />Evaluate and validate platform usability including navigation, workflow efficiency, data visualization, symbology rendering, and overall user experience against operational requirements and end-user needs across multiple security domains<br /><br />Support design and validation of tactical edge interface configurations, ensuring UX solutions account for operations in DDIL environments including degraded connectivity, constrained hardware, and high-stress operational contexts<br /><br />Participate in product demonstrations, design reviews, and agile development cycles, providing rapid design iteration and user-centered assessment of solution compliance and operational utility<br /><br />Collaborate with vendors, partners, field researchers, and Government stakeholders to ensure design solutions are grounded in validated user research, accurately communicated, and translated into verifiable interface requirements<br /><br />Qualifications<br /><br />Required Clearance:<br /><br />Active Secret clearance required<br /><br />TS/SCI Preferred<br /><br />Required Education:<br /><br />Bachelor's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Cognitive Science, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline<br /><br />Or Master's Degree preferred in UX Design, Human Factors, Cognitive Engineering, or a related technical or behavioral science field<br /><br />Required Experience:<br /><br />Eight (8+) years of progressive experience in UX design, interaction design, or a closely related field, with a minimum of three (3) years supporting defense, military, or interagency programs at the operational or acquisition level<br /><br />Demonstrated experience designing and delivering end-to-end UX solutions across complex, multi-platform environments, with proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or equivalent platforms, and familiarity with design system development and management<br /><br />Experience working within agile development frameworks such as SAFe, Scrum, or Kanban, with the ability to deliver rapid, iterative design solutions aligned to sprint cycles and development timelines<br /><br />Familiarity with Human System Integration (HSI) standards, Section 508 accessibility requirements, and the unique usability demands of classified and operationally constrained network environments<br /><br />Experience designing for cloud-based and tactical edge platforms, including the ability to create and validate interface solutions that perform effectively under DDIL conditions and constrained hardware environments<br /><br />Background in data visualization, military symbology, and operational workflow design with familiarity in targeting, collection management, and complex analytical tool interfaces<br /><br />Demonstrated ability to present design solutions, facilitate design workshops, and influence senior military, civilian, and interagency stakeholders while driving consensus across design, technical, and operational teams in fast-paced, dynamic environments<br /><br />Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000.
