Job Description<br />Do you have a passion for visual storytelling and a knack for bringing ideas to life through compelling design? Onondaga Community College (OCC) is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Graphic Designer and Content Creator to join our dynamic team.<br /><br />The Graphic Designer and Content Creator plays a vital role in shaping the visual identity of the College and ensures brand consistency across all marketing platforms. This position supports the College in effectively delivering on-brand messaging to our diverse audience of students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.<br /><br />Major Responsibilities<br /><br />Creatively design and implement high-quality marketing collateral (print, digital and web) to drive engagement and strengthen the College's brand, mission and messaging.<br /><br />Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and objectives, translating them into visually engaging and effective designs.<br /><br />Maintain brand consistency across all communication channels, ensuring adherence to OCC's branding guidelines.<br /><br />Manage and contribute to the College's digital asset library, efficiently organizing and maintaining design files.<br /><br />Stay current on industry trends and design best practices, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance our visual communications, stretch the brand's potential, and take meaningful risks.<br /><br />Support other design-related projects as needed, including web, social media, photography, videography, and event support.<br /><br />Requirements<br />Minimum Qualifications<br /><br />Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, college or foreign equivalency in Graphic Design, Communication, Marketing or related field<br /><br />Two years of professional experience in a graphic design role<br /><br />Strong portfolio showcasing creative design skills and problem‑solving abilities<br /><br />Proficiency in industry-standard design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)<br /><br />Preferred Qualifications<br /><br />Two years of agency experience as a graphic designer<br /><br />Experience working in higher education is a plus but not a requirement<br /><br />Demonstrated evidence of ongoing professional development efforts to maintain currency in graphic design best practices and techniques and for the creation of effective and engaging content<br /><br />Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders<br /><br />Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.<br /><br />Knowledge, Skills, Abilities<br /><br />Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously<br /><br />Strong understanding of branding principles and brand management practices<br /><br />Creative and innovative thinking, with a passion for exploring innovative design solutions and considering novel solutions to problems<br /><br />Experience working as part of a collaborative team as well as independently<br /><br />Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines; maintain a flexible attitude and schedule as needed.
