Description
DEKA Research is seeking a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join our Information Security team. In this role you will monitor, triage, and respond to security events across DEKA's security stack; support security operations and incident response activities; collaborate with engineers and cross-functional IT teams; and contribute to the maintenance and improvement of security tools, documentation, and processes. This is a hands‑on, growth‑oriented position suited for someone eager to deepen their expertise in a fast‑paced security environment.<br />How you will make an impact as a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst: Security Monitoring & Incident Response Perform real‑time monitoring of security alerts and events from SIEM, firewalls, ZTNA, DLP, email filtering, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions<br />Triage, analyze, investigate, and elevate security incidents including phishing attempts, unauthorized access, and malware detections<br />Serve as incident scribe during cyber incident response efforts, maintaining accurate logs and documentation throughout<br />Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for initial triage and incident handling<br />Analyze logs and events to identify patterns, anomalies, and potential threats<br />Write targeted exclusions for false positive detections following best practices<br />Security Tool Administration & Engineering Assist in the configuration, administration, and health monitoring of security platforms<br />Ensure saturation of endpoint agents and remediate non‑compliant devices<br />Onboard new log sources into SIEM; validate connectivity, parsing, and schema normalization<br />Work with senior analysts to tune and enhance EDR and DLP solutions, reducing false positives and improving alert fidelity<br />Perform log analysis to identify root causes of performance issues with EDR and DLP solutions<br />Vulnerability Management Validate and prioritize vulnerability scan results; report findings and recommendations to senior team members<br />Collaborate with IT teams (Applications, Systems, Networking) to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities<br />Collaborate with IT teams on mobile device management (MDM) deployment<br />Customer & Stakeholder Engagement Serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders and customers regarding security tool helpdesk tickets<br />Communicate clearly and promptly regarding network and security incidents<br />Explain technical security topics clearly to non‑technical stakeholders and share basic security best practices<br />Build professional, trust‑based relationships with internal customers and cross‑functional teams<br />Documentation & Compliance Contribute to documentation including cybersecurity policies, procedures, runbooks, SOPs, and onboarding checklists<br />Support audit, compliance, and assessment activities in accordance with applicable frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, DFARS 252.204-7012, HIPAA)<br />Team Collaboration & Growth Collaborate closely with engineers on real‑world projects<br />Escalate complex incidents to senior analysts with clear documentation and initial analysis<br />Participate in vendor‑led training, knowledge‑sharing, and networking opportunities<br />Stay current on evolving cybersecurity threats, trends, and threat actors<br />Assist senior team members with organizational needs and other duties as assigned<br />To succeed as a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst, you will need the following skills: Education Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline<br />An Associate's degree combined with additional years of directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree<br />Experience Minimum 3 years of experience in cybersecurity or information security<br />Hands‑on experience with security monitoring and incident response<br />Experience with SIEM platforms, DLP, email filters, ZTNA, EDR, and MDM solutions<br />Experience running vulnerability scans and processing results<br />Working knowledge of Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems<br />Certifications CompTIA Security+ or ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)<br />Preferred Qualifications: Certifications (one or more preferred) CompTIA PenTest+<br />CompTIA CySA+<br />EC-Council CEH<br />ISC2 CISSP<br />Experience & Background 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or information security<br />Prior experience in the defense or medical device manufacturing industries<br />Understanding of security control frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, HIPAA)<br /><br />#J-18808-Ljbffr
