Software Engineer<br /><br />Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the incumbent acts as a software engineer with expertise in application development using Java/J2EE technologies. The incumbent is responsible for the analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, and implementation of highly complex, internally developed applications for the California State Legislature within the Architected Services Division. The incumbent provides advanced expertise in systems analysis and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes. The incumbent is responsible for complex projects and serves as a subject matter expert in the use of emerging technologies to enhance and support internally developed products and develop new applications. The incumbent performs moderate to high-level data-processing problem analysis, database design, and technical consulting for the Legislature and Office of Legislative Counsel (OLC) customers across all environments. The incumbent assesses technical solutions to ensure adherence to established infrastructure standards and alignment with the Legislative Data Center's (LDC) Enterprise Architecture, including the supportability, reliability, and performance of Oracle database infrastructure systems. The incumbent works independently, as a team member, and/or as a team lead for information technology specialists assigned to complex projects of varying risk. These projects involve highly visible and mission-critical computer systems that support the business requirements of the California State Legislature and legislative support organizations. The incumbent may be required to carry a mobile device during core business hours and off-shift hours, including evenings, weekends, and State holidays, to respond to after-hours calls.<br />You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.
