Job Title: Business Analyst<br /><br />Location: Oakland, CA<br /><br />Notes: The role is hybrid, at least 2 days per week onsite at Oakland General Office.<br /><br />Top Things Looking For<br /><br />Top three qualifications or attributes:<br /><br />Strong business analysis and problem-solving skills: Experience analyzing data, identifying trends, developing recommendations, and supporting business decisions through reporting and analysis.<br /><br />Organization, data management, and attention to detail: Experience maintaining documentation, tracking changes, managing records, reconciling data, and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and auditability.<br /><br />Financial and planning acumen: Understanding of budgeting, cost analysis, capital planning, investment planning, portfolio management concepts, or similar business processes.<br /><br />Technical Skillsets:<br /><br />Experience with SAP and/or other enterprise systems (Copperleaf, Foundry, GIS, or similar planning and portfolio management tools)<br /><br />Strong Excel and Power BI skills for reporting, dashboards, data analysis, and KPI tracking<br /><br />Experience extracting, validating, reconciling, and analyzing data from multiple sources and systems<br /><br />Experience creating and maintaining reports, documentation, process flows, metrics, and business process deliverables<br /><br />Soft Skills:<br /><br />Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, initiatives, and requests simultaneously<br /><br />Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills (preferably with experience working across Finance, Engineering, Planning, Asset Management, and Operations teams)<br /><br />Learning agility and willingness to learn new systems, tools, and processes (e.g., Copperleaf, Foundry, IGP business processes)<br /><br />Attention to detail with a focus on data quality, documentation, change tracking, and process discipline<br /><br />Job Description<br />The Integrated Grid Planning (IGP) organization is seeking a Business Analyst to support the development and execution of multi-year electric investment plans. This role focuses on business analysis, portfolio planning support, reporting, process improvement, and data-driven decision support. The analyst will work with cross-functional teams to analyze data, support investment planning activities, maintain portfolio records, and translate complex information into actionable insights for stakeholders.<br /><br />The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple systems, datasets, and planning processes. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong analytical skills, a willingness to learn new tools and processes, and the ability to manage and maintain accurate planning documentation.<br /><br />Responsibilities<br /><br />Perform analysis on moderately complex data models using a variety of reporting and data sources.<br /><br />Collect, organize, analyze, and validate data to support business, operational, and investment planning activities.<br /><br />Develop reports, dashboards, metrics, and ad‑hoc analyses to support portfolio planning and business decisions.<br /><br />Support portfolio‑level analysis of capital investment plans, including evaluation of cost, risk, benefit, and funding considerations.<br /><br />Assist in the development and refinement of investment scenarios, planning assumptions, and portfolio recommendations.<br /><br />Support reporting and analysis associated with portfolio optimization outputs and planning tools (e.g., Copperleaf).<br /><br />Respond to ad‑hoc data requests and support operational analysis activities.<br /><br />Partner with Finance, Asset Management, Engineering, Planning, and Operations teams to gather information, align assumptions, and support planning initiatives.<br /><br />Build and maintain automated data routines, reporting processes, and dashboards to improve efficiency and data quality.<br /><br />Perform data validation, reconciliation, and QA/QC activities to ensure accuracy, consistency, and auditability of portfolio data and reporting.<br /><br />Track, document, and maintain records of investment, portfolio, and planning changes across multiple planning cycles.<br /><br />Support business process documentation, requirements gathering, and process improvement initiatives.<br /><br />Maintain project, portfolio, and planning documentation within SharePoint and other enterprise repositories.<br /><br />Assist with cataloguing, documentation, and data management activities across multiple IGP initiatives.<br /><br />Extract, analyze, and reconcile data from enterprise systems such as SAP, Foundry, GIS, and other planning platforms.<br /><br />Identify opportunities for automation, standardisation, and process efficiencies.<br /><br />Participate on project teams and support governance reviews, stakeholder meetings, and reporting activities.<br /><br />Perform other ad‑hoc analyses and reporting as needed.<br /><br />Desired Qualifications<br /><br />Experience analysing datasets and developing insights using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.<br /><br />Strong organisational skills with experience managing documentation, records, and supporting multiple concurrent initiatives.<br /><br />Understanding of financial concepts such as cost, risk, budgeting, capital planning, or investment planning.<br /><br />Experience supporting portfolio management, business planning, capital planning, or investment planning processes.<br /><br />Experience working with enterprise systems such as SAP, Foundry, GIS, Copperleaf, or similar platforms.<br /><br />Experience extracting, validating, and analysing data from multiple enterprise systems.<br /><br />Experience developing reports, KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics.<br /><br />Familiarity with business process documentation, requirements gathering, and process improvement activities.<br /><br />Experience in utility, energy, infrastructure, engineering, or other regulated industries preferred.<br /><br />Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new tools, technologies, and business processes.<br /><br />Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and Power BI.<br /><br />Key Skills &amp;
